Formal methods and model-based systems engineering for space systems: Lean 4 formalizations, SysML v2, ontologies, assume-guarantee contracts, F´ flight software.
I work on the foundations that make engineering models trustworthy: what a model means, what a tool is allowed to conclude from it, and how to prove that the conclusion is right.
At JPL I co-lead openCAESAR, an ontology-based approach to model-based systems engineering built on the Ontological Modeling Language (OML), and I contributed to Pacti, a library for assume-guarantee contracts. Earlier I worked on the Deep Space 1 Remote Agent experiment, model-based diagnosis, and the SysML–Modelica transformation specification.
Lately most of my work is in Lean 4: machine-checked parsers and semantics, formalizations of metrology (kinds of property, units, uncertainty), SysML v2 execution semantics, and provable observability for F´ flight software.
